Accreditation
What is accreditation?
Accreditation is a continuous improvement process used to evaluate the quality and safety of services provided at the CISSS de la Côte-Nord. The evaluation is carried out by the staff of the establishment and by a recognized external body (Accreditation Canada) in order to improve the quality of services while considering best practices. This "RIGOROUS" process evaluates both clinical and administrative practices. The opinion of users on the quality of services is important and sought‑after throughout the whole process.
Here are a few benefits:
- Demonstrate credibility and a commitment to quality;
- Encourages improvements in quality and organizational performance;
- Improves communication and collaboration internally and with external stakeholders;
- Strengthens interdisciplinary team effectiveness;
- Mitigates the risks of adverse events.

Taking part in an accreditation process is compulsory according to article 107.1 of the Act respecting health services and social services, 2013 (AHRSSS): " Every institution must have the health services and social services it provides accredited by a recognized accreditation body."
